Ivry office building

Competition organised by a subsidiary of the Group Buelens, in cooperation with the SEMAPA (Société d’économie mixte d’aménagement de Paris).

The ground-breaking new office building is to be constructed on a site within the ZAC Bédier (13ème arrondissement), overlooking the Porte d’Ivry. Art&Build took to heart the requirement to design a building which enables office space to be effectively and positively spliced into a primarily residential neighbourhood, thus encouraging social and commercial integration. Flexibility was a high design priority, ensuring future adaptability and long term durability for the building. The brief called for an ambitious environmental profile, to which the design responds through modular, prefabricated constructive techniques that facilitate site work next to the Boulevard Peripherique. A high performance facade defines the exterior of the perimeter block, while a more intimate facade faces the existing Paris Habitat apartments and a bespoke, common garden. Art & Build will thus build the first wooden structured edifice of its kind in Paris.
