The creation of an internationally renowned sports facility is as much a necessity as it is a given for the capital of Europe. The choice of location involves a number of issues which were considered in great depth long before this project came about and which are directly connected to the future of the Heysel Plateau. This architectural solution is the result of a long process of collaboration between multiple stakeholders. It is the embodiment of the iconic image of the ‘temple of sport’, while also tacking the crucial issues of event logistics.
